I’ve been thinking about Rides and Routes for next spring and summer. I’ve been playing with ride planners on the HD site, but they are U.S. based only (leaving out Canada) so, Google maps software is better and has features which better fit my interests. Also its much snappier than the HD MapQuest application. Most unfortunate is the fact that wordpress.COM won’t support iFrames so, I have to do screen shots of the maps to provide you a visual image vs. just embed the HTML code. At any rate here is some info for your review and future planning.
Below is the approx 2050 mile trip from Bend, OR to Milwaukee. This is the route for the 105th Anniversay Ride Home. When you click on the “view larger map” link below you’ll get the full map and all of the route details.

If any ride or route seems interesting let’s pull a plan together…
So, did you let other people know that you have posted these potential 2008 ride ideas? Nice maps and info – you should share with the group!
Hey, I just noticed that you’ve posted some “clothing sites” – have you been shopping for me again? Ah, you shouldn’t have. But, I appreciate the time you’ve taken to look into some cool stuff for me. Hey, what would your mom think of this stuff??
Oh man… No.3 is a good looking ride! Count me in… : 0
@motorcycle – thx for the link post. Back at you: http://motorcycle.best-discount-perfume.net/?p=1239
Maybe we tag the Grand Canyon loop on the end of the Laughlin run next spring?
Hal and I are in for anything. All three rides look great. He has to pick 2008 vacation in January so all you need to do is let us know the dates and we will ride along…. no schlep-mobile this time!

I have been doing some research too, of course I don’t have as much time on my hands as you for this, but I try….
Anyway, we like the across the country trip #1… but now details are needed…. bike shipping, flying back, where to stay, what to do, oh my gosh, my brain hurts….
Knowing you like to coordinate all those things, just thought I’d put a bug in your ear…..
Happy Holidays

And, we like Trip #2 as well….

And Trip #3 doesn’t look too bad either…..
You ARE right, it didn’t hurt!!
Oh, one last question….
any other females going besides Lorilicious and myself???

I am planning a trip in Aigust around the AHDA in Salem. After the event I am picking daughter up & plan on a couple days riding. Crater Lake is in the plans as hse lives in Roseburg. After that I need some help. My bets bet from the maps was to go all the way up 97 to the gourge. Then wondered if the Willamette HWy was a better route. No reservations just planning on riding till we need to crash. Any views or help would be most helpfull. I am starting the Bay Area & working my way north up HWY 1 then cutting over to Salem. I was hoping the gourge would be a ride we could loop all the way around from Roseburg in 2-3 days.

@ Jake – check out Rogue Umpqua scenic byway on the west side of crater lake. Nice ride from Roseburg to Prospect on OR 138, 230 and 62. Also in central OR check out Cascade Lakes highway and the McKenzie-Santiam pass loop. All great rides near Roseburg. Do a google search on Oregon Byways and you’ll get a lot of information. Happy trails…
Mac as stated we are on a loose knit ride. Are there plenty of options for lodging? If you have any suggestions they are welcomed. I want this to be a great trip for both. 19 year old daughter & I have not had 1 on 1 time in a long time. She leikes the things I like. So easy to please. Thanks for the help.
@ Jake – on the right side of this blog there are a number of references under the Routes and Maps section. Suggest going to HD’s Ride planner (http://www.harley-davidson.com/rideplanner) and on that site you can check out the motels/gas stations etc., that would be available. I know from experience there are not a lot of motel’s around the Crater Lake area and this time of year they will be full of vacationer’s…
I would hate a trip through Utah or any of the Southern states really if it’s around summertime. The temperatures get in the triple figures, and it would just be awful to ride through.
