Mt RushmoreOn the Road Again is a song by Willie Nelson from the movie Honeysuckle Rose. And “On the Road” is a novel by Jack Kerouac, written in April 1951, and published by Viking Press in 1957. Mostly an autobiographical work, written as a stream of consciousness and based on the spontaneous road trips of Kerouac and his friends across mid-century America. Its often considered a defining work of the “Beat Generation” and may well represent all the bikers heading to Sturgis motorcycle rally this weekend.

We’ll be one them. The rally was founded August 14, 1938 by the Jackpine Gypsies Motorcycle Club who still own and operate some of the tracks, hillclimb, and field areas that the rally is concentrated around.
